Ginger says:
“I'd like to begin by giving you some background information on myself as well as some of my interests and hobbies.
After a brief yet sensational career in the adult film industry, I have gone through a successful transition, resulting in a blossoming and prolific acting career in mainstream Hollywood films.
I was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, I didn't leave my hometown until the age of nineteen. I left home to visit my ailing grandfather in California. I decided to stay. I quickly searched for employment and found a position as a manager of MusicLand in Redlands, California. From November 1982 to September 1983 I worked in Redlands and lived in a tiny trailer in one of the worst parts of town.
In September of 1983, I answered an ad for figure models, and that very same day I had an offer to pose for Penthouse Magazine. Many other offers were soon to follow.
All of this led to overnight stardom and a sensational career in the adult film industry. Although my initial involvement in porno lasted a brief two years, my first 69 adult films remain on top of the charts in video rentals…”

Emulating Hollywood in its Golden Age, new company Vivid Video put itself on the map by signing Ginger Lynn to an exclusive contract in 1984.
"We made a decision early on to work with the industry's top stars, Ginger Lynn being the first one," Vivid co-founder Steven Hirsch recalled. "It made sense to focus all of our attention on one girl so that the consumer would know that Vivid was the company that carried the Ginger movies. It helped to brand the company in our earliest years."
Many other companies (Metro, VCA, Wicked to name a few) have and continue to follow suit, with some of the biggest stars in adult having their careers built and guided by the production companies that sign them at the beginning of their careers.
